Image: Dizzy blonde Best known for: A string of hit movies and killer smile Early life: Goldie Jean Hawn was born on November 21, 1945, in Takoma Park, Maryland. She has a sister called Patricia. Her father was a musician, her mother a jewellery saleswoman and dance school owner. Made her professional debut at 11 in The Nutcracker. She trained to be a ballerina before studying drama at the American University. Dropped out to take a job in a can-can performance at the 1965 World's Fair. Career: In 1967, Hawn landed a role in short-lived TV series Good Morning World. She was spotted by a producer who hired her for Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. Her regular appearances made her a star. She won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 1969's Cactus Flower, but became typecast as a dizzy blonde until Steven Spielberg asked her to play a mother on the run in 1974's Sugarland Express. Appeared in hit movies including Shampoo, Private Benjamin, Swing Shift, Bird on a Wire, Death Becomes Her, Everyone Says I Love You, and The Banger Sisters. Her autobiography, A Lotus Grows in the Mud, was also a hit.

Love life: Divorced Gus Trikonis in 1976 after seven years together. Her second marriage, to Bill Hudson, produced son Oliver and actress daughter Kate - but it ended in 1980. She's been with Kurt Russell since 1982. They have a son, Wyatt. Don't mention: Her childhood. Despite having loving, supportive parents, she claims she often felt like an ugly duckling.
