10,000-Strong Border Force Vow by Cameron

David cameron last night vowed a Tory Government would deal with the problem of illegal immigrants - some of whom have been told to make their own way to detention centres. The Conservative leader said his party would promise a 10,000-strong border force to ensure enough personnel to deal with illegal immigrants correctly. Last week the Western Mail revealed that police who stopped illegal immigrants on the roadside were told to let them go with a map of how to get to an asylum centre in Liverpool.

It is understood that as well as that incident on the A55, there have been several 'anomalies' in the past year with official handling of suspected illegal migrants. One was put in a taxi to a Welsh Refugee Council hostel and one was told to go to Heathrow airport and catch a flight home. Both individuals were separately picked up in West Wales.
