Aea Technology sold a string of businesses yesterday in a pounds 58.3m move, allowing it to focus on its work providing air pollution monitoring. The Oxfordshire company has entered into a 'conditional agreement' with investment firm Vision Capital to sell its rail division which makes equipment to remove leaves from the line.

As part of the deal Vision will also take on WMT of Dorset, which packages radioactive waste, as well AEA's US engineering business ESI and the Toronto energy arm Kinectrics.
