Aerospace and defence group EADS is creating a further 100 jobs in Newport as part of a pounds 35m expansion. A ground-breaking ceremony of EADS' new facility at Celtic Springs will be performed today by the Duke of York. Franco-German venture EADS, which is in the running to acquire BAE Systems' 20% minority stake in the Airbus consortium, currently employs around 800 people in Newport.

EADS was part of the Atlas consortium which last year won a pounds 4bn 10-year contract handling the MoD's IT requirements.
