Ams Seek to Make Access to the Arts a Local Legal Duty

Summary


A NEW law is needed to ensure people across Wales have access to arts and culture in their area, says an influential committee of AMs.

The National Assembly's cross-party communities and culture committee says it wants to see a legal duty placed on councils to support arts and cultural experiences. It also says it wants to see less focus on purpose-built venues and more attention and investment in projects to reach a wider audience, particularly those with disabilities or from minority groups.
