THE centuries-old tradition of lave net fishing is to be safeguarded thanks to an historic agreement.

At the last fishery of its kind in Wales a small group of fishermen use 17th century techniques passed down through generations. Working in the shadow of the Severn Bridge they each net around seven salmon a year.
