Bullying in schools is not confined to the playground. Headteachers and governors must by law have a policy to prevent all forms of bullying among pupils. However research by the charity Teacher Support Cymru shows that 6% of Welsh respondents had considered resigning from the teaching profession because of bullying by school management.

Marion, a 32-year-old primary school teacher from Newtown, said, 'I've been bullied by my head since I asked to have time to think about a promotion. She has now withdrawn the promotion and is highly critical of my teaching. She also withholds key information from me.
