THE man behind plans for a massive expansion of Avonmouth docks has claimed that ports in Wales have nothing to fear from the proposals.

Simon Bird, chief executive of Bristol Port Company, said he saw "no disadvantage to Welsh ports at all" from the plans to build a huge new deep water container terminal on the other side of the Severn, adding that Wales might actually benefit from trans- shipping opportunities and the need to find new warehousing facilities.
