One of the UK's biggest banks faced an investigation yesterday after it was revealed that a suicide victim had amassed pounds 130,000 of debt with 22 credit cards.

Richard Cullen, 65, a mechanic from Wiltshire, fell into a spiral of debt with several different lenders. He went into the red by more than pounds 35,000 through four cards belonging to the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) alone.
