Summary
A supermarket security guard told an inquest yesterday that he was not asked to check a car park barrier which swung out and killed a father of three. Kenneth Farr was hit by the barrier as he drove into the Asda store in Cardiff Bay with his three-year-old daughter Jessica in May, 2002. The 37-year-old from Shakespeare Avenue, Penarth, was pronounced dead at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, later that day.
The jury inquest at Cardiff Coroner's Court has heard that the barrier was not secured in the open position with a padlock on the day of the accident. Police footage taken on the day showed it swaying in powerful winds.See the full content of this document
