Summary
A man beat his partner unconscious with a remote control then left her to die on top of a staircase for four days, a court heard yesterday. When a friend made a Monday morning telephone call to Nicholas Trick, 46, who had been living for four years with partner Kay Brooks, he finally confessed, "Kay's been dead since Friday." An ambulance was then dispatched to the home at Port Tennant, Swansea, where the couple were living. A shocked ambulance crew found the body of mother-of-two Mrs Brooks lying under a quilt on a landing. The house was covered with bloodstains and Mrs Brooks, 46, was later found to have sustained 71 separate injuries, including five fractured ribs and a serious head wound. Instead of going to get help, Trick had gone out only to get vodka to drink. Paramedic Marie Glover said to Trick, "Has she been lying her since Friday?"
He replied, "Yes."See the full content of this document
