LAST Wednesday morning I received a telephone call from former Cardiff bookmaker and football pools supremo Wilfred Sherman, who celebrates his 99th birthday on January 29.

He now lives in Cordoba in Spain but returned to Great Britain last year to unveil a plaque at Wilfred Sherman House in Newmarket.
