FOOD prices rose by an inflation-busting 4.7% last month compared to a year ago as retailers passed on soaring commodity costs, figures revealed yesterday.

The BRC-Neilsen Shop Price Index showed food prices increased by their highest annual rate since the study began 18 months ago, as the cost of rice, wheat and corn continued to increase.
