Outdoor clothing retailer Blacks Leisure has unveiled a healthy rise in Christmas sales but said margins had fallen on a year earlier. The group, which has 442 outlets under brands including Millets, Blacks and O'Neill, said a late buying rush before Christmas and a strong sale period helped like-for-like figures lift 6.2% in the eight weeks to Saturday.
Across the last 20 weeks, Blacks said same-store sales rose 9.4%, although margins were almost 1% lower because of the stock clearance activity, particularly in boardwear, and weak trading at O'Neill.See the full content of this document
