Prime Minister Tony Blair has not ruled out a revival of the South Wales coal industry to meet Britain's growing energy needs. Mr Blair told a meeting of Labour MPs on Monday evening that the Government needs to take action now to avoid an energy crisis in the future.

Although there will be an increase in renewable energy use over the next decade, other sources of energy are likely to be needed in the medium term.
