Blunkett Was Guilty, Says Ethics Watchdog

The head of the Whitehall sleaze watchdog yesterday called for an 'urgent' review of the Ministerial Code of Conduct in the wake of David Blunkett's downfall. Sir Alistair Graham, chairman of the Committee on Standards in Public Life, said it was essential that ministers were seen to be held to a 'rigorous and ethical regime'.

His intervention came as former Prime Minister Sir John Major claimed that Labour had proved to be more 'sleazy' in office than the Tories ever were.
