SIR - I was greatly saddened when I heard that my colleague and friend Kevin Etheridge had resigned from the Caerphilly council ("Councillor in childcare-bill row quits", April 13).
Kevin was probably one of the hardest working councillors in Caerphilly council's history. He wrote hundreds of e-mails each week on behalf of his constituents. It will be a sad loss for all of his constituents Those of us who have been close to Kevin were always concerned that he may have to make this decision. Many were surprised when Kevin decided previously to withdraw himself from the scrutiny committees, but this decision was made due to the constant health problems of a couple of his family members, he felt he had to step back a little to help his family.See the full content of this document
