Drinks and hospitality company SA Brain & Co is today toasting record sales and profits. The Cardiff-based family owned business saw its turnover increase by 12.5% to pounds 121.5m in its last financial year to the end of September, 2005 - compared with pounds 108.1m on the previous year.

Profit before tax rose by 35% to pounds 11m, a significant increase which was boosted by the realisation of profit on property investments in its former customer service and brewery sites - underlying profitability increased by around 14%. The figures also reflect the acquisition in January 2005 of the Innkeeper Wales group of 27 pubs.
