ONE of Wales' oldest building companies has become the latest SME to sign up to an industry initiative which aims to halve the amount of construction waste sent to landfill. Cardiff-based building contractor Knox&Wells, which was established in 1888, has become a signatory to Construction Commitments: Halving Waste to Landfill, an industry-wide voluntary agreement to help the UK construction industry meet the challenges set by the Strategy for Sustainable Construction initiative.
The commitment, launched by Wrap (Waste & Resources Action Programme) in October 2008, recently passed 500 signatories, bringing the potential UK construction contracts to benefit from it to more than pounds 30bn.See the full content of this document
