IT is one of the largest private sector employers in South Wales. Now, GE Aircraft Engine Services in Nantgarw has, for the first time, appointed a Welshman to take charge of the plant to plot its course through a challenging climate for the aviation sector.

Adrian Button, appointed managing director in August last year, returned to the Nantgarw plant after working for US corporate giant GE at a number of its facilities in North America. Mr Button, originally from Llantrisant, came back to the plant he started out at 12 years ago having worked for GE in Jacksonville, Florida and at its global headquarters at Cincinnati.
