Statistics demonstrating a slowdown in the Welsh hospitality industry have prompted a fresh call for a major convention centre in the Welsh capital. While the performance of hotels and restaurants rose by 2% across the UK in the last 12 months, it fell by 2.2% in Wales. Mark Walker, general manager of the Cardiff Hilton, is adamant that a new exhibition space is needed if the country is to tap into the lucrative international business tourism market.
