Welsh scientists are to investigate the power fish have in slowing the devastating symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.

They will aim to discover whether eating fatty acids found in dishes such as salmon and sardines can help postpone the start - and hold back the symptoms - of a dementia which affects hundreds of people, particularly the elderly, across Wales. Previous studies have suggested a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, found in oily fish, can reduce the risk of the onset of Alzheimer's disease, although this is not yet proven.
