LIKE two opposing generals who have suddenly come face to face at the height of a military campaign, the leaders of Welsh Labour and Plaid Cymru sat down together yesterday and avoided talking about the wider war.

Foot soldiers from each party were battling for constituencies across the country but the two men were determined not to allow election fever to creep into the Assembly Government press conference.
