Celebrity chefs may look good on screen, but they do not inspire many viewers to follow their culinary lead. Only 5% of people questioned for Waitrose Food Illustrated had been prompted to take up cooking by the TV personalities. Less than a quarter of respondents followed celebrity chefs' recipe books while 15% did not use any cookbooks at all.
