Newport's biggest Premier Cup win this season with wing Will Kershaw-Naylor getting three of their nine tries was a big boost for the second-placed defending champions last night. It went some way towards washing away the bitter taste of their cup defeat at Aberavon. It was also a welcome reply to the Drovers who complained to the WRU over postponement of the October game at Newport, resulting in the Black and Ambers being deducted three points.

Those three points lost had haunted Newport and added a bit of edge to last night's game, home coach Dai Rees said before kick- off.
