Charters Revised for Museum and Library Centenaries

Summary

The Cardiff office of law firm Geldards has drawn up the new Royal Charters for National Museum Wales and The National Library of Wales in time for their centenary celebrations this year. The revised charters, which are bilingual for the first time in the history of the museum and library, will allow the bodies to manage themselves more easily while preserving the objects of the original charters, granted in 1907.

The charters will modernise the governance of the two institutions to better serve the needs of 21st century visitors. One of the key changes will be a new board of trustees for each institution, appointed by open recruitment.
