THOUSANDS of jubilant fans streamed into St James' Park yesterday to get their first glimpse of the new Geordie hero in black and white stripes. As record pounds 16m signing Michael Owen emerged onto the pristine pitch the 16,000-strong crowd erupted.

It is the first time the England star has been seen in the Newcastle strip and the crowd were delirious as he paraded around the pitch in the sunshine.
