Summary

Plans for the pounds 20m redevelopment of one of South Wales' most historic buildings have been approved by Cardiff County Council. Proposals to restore the Coal Exchange in Cardiff Bay to its former glory will now be carried forward by Macob Exchange Ltd.

The building, in Mount Stuart Square, is where the world's first million-pound business deal was struck. It was purchased by Macob in 2001. Since then, the listed building has become a live venue for pop and rock acts, as well as being a location for conferences, weddings and exhibitions.
