SIR - I was, as a long-time supporter, surprised to read the view from the Centre for Alternative Technology concerning wind farms in Wales ("Land charity casts doubt over output of Welsh wind farms", April 12).
Wind power has been given substantial central planning, financial and media support so it is hardly odd that it is "our most developed way of doing that". A similar "reason" could be put forward in support of nuclear weapons - they get results and are easy to deliver; but that does not make them better. We had our first solar panels installed in 1982 in Reading and more recently here in 2003, they have been very successful - as a pensioner I am thrilled with gallons of "free" very hot water.See the full content of this document
