THE former head of a Welsh Government-funded anti-poverty scheme wept in court yesterday as she admitted taking about pounds 51,000 from the charity's funds.

Miriam Beard, the former coordinator of the Plas Madoc Communities First Project in Acrefair, Wrexham, pleaded guilty to nine of 12 charges on the fourth day of her trial.
