SIR - We are somewhat confused that Environment Minister Carwyn Jones is caring for the planet because 'he wants to look my children in the eye' (Western Mail, November 9).
Mr Jones seems to have no problem in proposing an opencast mine to 'improve' the quality of life of the residents of Merthyr Tydfil and surrounding villages. What about our right to breathe clean air and not noxious diesel fumes from lorries in what will be one of the biggest opencast workings in Europe. Yet Ministers say they are confident of making big changes to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.See the full content of this document
