Paul Rowland boarded Air South West's first flight linking Wales to Newquay yesterday. Here he gives a snapshot of the day trip IT SEEMED like such a lovely idea at the time. What better way to celebrate the belated springing of spring than with a quick jaunt across the Bristol Channel to one of the UK's finest beach resorts.

It might not have been sunbathing weather over the weekend, but it was at least warm.
