Welsh high jumper Julie Crane last night spoke of her mixed emotions at winning a shock silver medal as controversy erupted at the Commonwealth Games. Crane came from nowhere to take an unexpected silver in the high jump behind South African Anika Smith - but was denied the opportunity to go for gold.
Her attempt to have a third and final crack at the winning height was denied when Crane was deemed to have crossed a line underneath the bar during an aborted run-up. Crane made no attempt to jump, did a U-turn and was ready to start her run-up again.See the full content of this document
