It is the way the explorer Marco Polo returned to his Venice home, it is the route the spice traders took, the crusaders sailed through the waters surrounding this extraordinary city - and it is the way we arrived too.

Our spirits rose and excitement mounted from the very moment we reached the Venice lagoon. In the very far distance, we could see the familiar romantic skyline and the hairs stood up on the back of my neck.
