Danish Wind Power

Summary

SIR - Andrew Draper accuses me of 'preposterous presumption' in questioning his remarks on Danish wind power. It was not presumption to report the West Danish Grid System Report as saying that each gigawatt of installed wind power will require up to 0.5 GW of fossil- fuelled standby. With a Danish load factor of about 20%, the standby is thus considerably more in capacity than the average wind-power generation.

The European Commission may well be driving wind power as an industry 'in its own right', but I don't have to like the fact. I also believe that with such a huge 'premium' paid on wind electricity, it is effectively a scam, as it cannot possibly reduce CO2 emission sufficiently to alter atmospheric concentration, let alone deflect climate change.
