SCARLETS supremo Nigel Davies has called on Warren Gatland to consider giving his new Wales captain Matthew Rees the role on a permanent basis.

Rees was yesterday unveiled as Gatland's skipper for the opening autumn international against Australia in 10 days after Wales captain Ryan Jones was ruled out with a calf injury.
