Many D-Day veterans will be unable to attend an international event to mark the 60th anniversary, even though they made it possible, it was claimed last night.

Former RAF officer Ian Panton, whose father Joseph took part in the Normandy landings, said many veterans were angry that so few who risked their lives to liberate Europe, had been given priority at next Sunday's commemoration in the village of Arromanches.
