SIR - Your reader Sybil Edwards expresses some concern regarding the arrival of her new passport (Letters, July 2). I would like to reassure all your readers that we treat the secure delivery of new passports extremely seriously.
All staff working at the Identity and Passport Service are security cleared and that includes the couriers who deliver passports. Every delivery is tracked by use of GPS-enabled hand held units, which record the point of delivery. Signatures on delivery are also taken in areas of known high risk or where there is a shared mailbox.See the full content of this document
