Summary
CAMPAIGNERS have called for more Government action to tackle poverty among disabled people after a survey showed they were twice as likely to live in hardship than others. The Leonard Cheshire Disability report, Disability Poverty In The UK, says that disabled people are also more likely to live in poverty today than they were 10 years ago. The report says there are an estimated three million disabled people living in relative poverty in the UK. The campaigning group says, on average, disabled people's day-to-day living costs - for basics like care and transport - are 25% higher than those of non-disabled people.
The report calls on the Government to urgently end disability poverty.See the full content of this document
