BRITISH armed forces are operating with a "deeply disturbing" shortage of medics, it emerged last night as the deaths of two more British soldiers were announced.

Government figures show the number of fully-qualified medical officers is 42% below the required level and there is a 21% shortfall in the number of nurses.
