Swansea pilot, Mike Glinternick who ditched his plane in the sea rather than fly over the busy Mumbles seafront after an engine failure, has been named runner-up in the annual Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) General Aviation Safety Awards.

Last June the engine of Mr Glinternick's Piper PA-28 failed soon after take-off from Swansea Airfield.
