And so it was, rather with a whimper than a bang, that Cardiff City's season ended at Coventry in defeat.

Despite the scoreline, it was a game the Bluebirds did not really deserve to lose, but they did thanks to strikes from World Cup- bound forward Stern John, Dele Adebola and a header from veteran pain-in-Cardiff's posterior Dennis Wise, who, despite being perhaps the shortest bloke on the pitch, rose majestically to head past Neil Alexander as the season reached its death throes.
