Bradley dredge erased memories of his last competitive round - an 83 in the Spanish Open three weeks ago - with a superb 67 to lie one off the lead at the Italian Open. Dredge dropped only one shot all day but turned a pleasing return to action into an excellent tournament start with an eagle three at the ninth - his last.

The Blackwood golfer has been working hard on his swing with new coach Claude Harmon - the brother of Tiger Woods' former trainer Butch Harmon - and the results were evident yesterday after a quiet start to the season.
