Two foot-and-mouth outbreaks within six years is hard enough for any farmer but Russell and Eira Edwards also had to face up to E.coli. The 2005 South Wales outbreak forced the cancellation of school visits to their farm park at Hendre-Ifan-Goch, Glynogwr.

Lakeside Farm Park opened for school visits in April 2005 but less than six months later the area was hit by 168 cases of E.coli at 42 schools.
