Welsh farmers have protested at plans by the makers of Big Brother for a reality television show of celebrities living and working on a farm. Farmers' Union of Wales vice-president Alan Gardner described the proposal as 'grossly irresponsible' and warned that animals could be hurt and farming itself brought into disrepute.

'It would be grossly irresponsible simply to dump a group of unskilled people on a farm without adequate training and constant supervision,' said Mr Gardner.
