Farmers have been granted the right to graze livestock on set- aside land while foot-and-mouth movement restrictions remain in force. The derogation allows farmers to graze setaside land with their own animals, or harvest hay or silage for their own uses, where it is necessary because of the restrictions.

The relaxation will remain in place until the end of the set- aside period on August 31, when farmers are anyway free to graze or harvest in this way in most cases.
