Summary
With tb spiralling out of control and the Government looking the other way, farmers and vets have joined forces and presented the Government with a seven-point plan to halt the spread of the disease. The plan was presented to Animal Health Minister Ben Bradshaw and calls for the licensed culling of badgers to be permitted over large control areas, of at least 300 square kilometres in most cases, ideally bordered by 'hard physical boundaries'.
Under the plan, farmers in disease hot spots within the control areas would apply for licences to cull badgers. The culling would be carried out by trained contractors, initially using cage traps and shooting, possibly later by gassing.See the full content of this document
