They've seen us through the summer and the winter in style and comfort. But, Anna Morrell asks, will the wedge shoe's royal outing on Camilla's feet prove the thin end of fashion? MENTION wedges to most women and they will breathe a sigh of relief. They are the shoes that have enabled us to walk tall without tottering or sacrificing too much in the way of glamour and style. They took a little getting used to when they were first revived - they were, after all, the shoes many of us could remember our mothers wearing in the '70s. But no sooner had we slipped them on than we were won over by their sheer comfort, and were all too ready to believe they were not clumsy and ungainly. For months they have been the height of fashion.

But just as David Cameron put in question the serious fashion credentials of Converse trainers by sporting a pair, is there a very real danger Camilla will kill off the wedge?
