STANDING in New York's Times Square shouting "Cut!" while shooting his own movie has been another pinch-me moment in the fast- rising career of British actor-writer-director Noel Clarke, once best known as a Doctor Who sidekick.

The success of his two gritty "street" movies Kidulthood (2005) and Adulthood (2008) launched him as one of the most in-demand British film-makers of his generation, and last year he won the Bafta Rising Star Award.
