A desperate 11th-hour attempt to save Shambo the sacred bullock from certain death failed last night. A plea to carry out a second test to prove conclusively if he has bovine tuberculosis (bTB) was rejected. Hindu leaders were clutching at the slender hope that the Welsh Assembly Government would grant a second bTB skin test.
